Here we have a 1983 Fender American 1962 Vintage Reissue Precision Bass, made in the Fullerton factory, serial # V003996, and 1-5-83 neck date, and just one previous owner.

These early Fullerton reissues have been some of the most sought after instruments on the vintage market in recent times. This one is superb and 100% original, and shows what all the fuss is about; nice 3-tone sunburst, Rosewood fretboard, weighs just 4kg, or 8 lbs 11oz., has no fret wear, and no screw ever turned, so we will not be taking this one apart for inside pictures. I guarantee it to be genuine!

It is not in mint condition, showing some honest, light play wear on the body & pick guard, and has some weather checking. It has, in short, aged beautifully in nearly 30 years with one owner. It's a great no-excuses bass either for the collector or the player, and still has the original tweed hard case.

This bass came to us with flatwounds and the original muting rubber still in the bridge cover. This is how Leo meant these basses to be from the outset (to replicate double-basses with their rounder sound and shorter sustain), and is the first time in decades of playing that I have played a bass set up like this. It sounds amazing! Motown! If this doesn't go soon I think I may just have to add this to my personal arsenal just for the amazing sound. The hardest thing about trying to run my passion as a business is that I have to sell the instruments I love so much!

Doing a bit of research on this bass a decade later I came across some interesting web pages. The main one can be seen here.

not presently for sale.
