I doubt there has ever been a more quirky bass ever designed or built! This very individual example dates from the late '50s or early '60s, and was made by the original German Hoyer company, who made a quite successful line of high quality solid-top archtops in their day.

As if the shape wasn't enough to set this bass off, the front and back of the solid timber body are finished, not with wood laminate as you might expect, but with an awesome fake woodgrain in Mother-Of-Toilet-Seat (MOTS) pearl! Yes, just like the pearl type finishes, this one changes according to the angle of the light.

Then there's the shape of the pickups (nice big single-coils with individually-adjustable Alnico magnet poles, and they actually sound great!)

Be different and stand out from the crowd with this one. A few rough edges (check out the detailed pictures in the link below), but at a bargain-basement price. You will need a lead with one end being a 3-pin DIN connection - I can make you one and supply it for just $20 extra.
